LET'S DIVE IN. πŸ–€

Hello hello friends and welcome back to The SELF CARE Sisterhood Podcast and our RECLAIM YOUR SUMMER series β˜€οΈ

Over the last couple of weeks, we've talked a lot about awareness.

Reclaiming your WHY. Reclaiming your ENERGY. Paying attention to where your time, focus, and energy are actually going.

And today I want to shift us into something a little more practical.

Because once we become aware of what's draining us and what matters most, the next question becomes: "How do I actually support myself better?"

And friends, I think this is where wellness gets really confusing.

Somewhere along the way β€” especially on social media β€” wellness became deeply tied to the showiness of it all. The before and afters. The monetization of your body as a billboard. Perfect routines. Extreme challenges. Doing more while shrinking ourselves.

But the older I get, the more I realize that way of living feels a lot like pressure. And the things that actually change how I FEEL in my life? They're usually very basic and honestly pretty unsexy.

I call them ✨ BEST SELF CHOICES.

They are the small, supportive choices that help me feel more energized, grounded, clear-minded, emotionally stable, and connected to myself. Choices that support the kind of life I want to live and the woman I want to show up as.

When I stop paying attention, it becomes really easy to drift into autopilot and then wonder: "Why do I feel so off lately?" β€” which is exactly why BEST SELF CHOICES are something I like to track.

And if you want to track them alongside me this summer, I've created a RECLAIM YOUR SUMMER workbook that we're working through together as a community. Each week's episode theme pairs with a section of the workbook β€” and if tracking your BEST SELF CHOICES this summer feels like something that would help you, you can grab it at inspirebeautybritt.com/reclaim.

It's designed to help you notice patterns.

What helps you feel your best? What supports your energy? What consistently helps you feel more like YOU?

Because those things matter.

Before we dive into these six habits, I want to say something important:

I think a lot of women are exhausted by wellness culture.

Because most women are already carrying enough.

Enough pressure. Enough mental load. Enough expectations.

They don't need wellness becoming one more weight to drag around.

What we actually need is support. Real support.

Because here's the truth: we've drifted away from some of the most basic things that help us feel well.

Rest. Movement. Sunlight. Hydration. Nourishment. Presence.

We traded many of those things for productivity, hustle, comparison, and constant stimulation β€” and then wonder why we feel so disconnected from ourselves.

Friends, reclaiming your wellness isn't a fitness challenge. This is training for LIFE.

Because the way you care for yourself bleeds into everything else.

Your marriage. Your friendships. Your work. Your mental health. Your emotional resilience. Your peace.

How you show up for YOU shapes how you show up for everything else.

And the beautiful thing? Most of these supportive choices are actually really simple. The challenge usually isn't knowing WHAT to do. It's slowing down enough to consistently choose what supports us in a world constantly pulling us away from ourselves.

And that's why these six habits matter.

6 BEST SELF CHOICES I SWEAR BY

1. MOVING YOUR BODY

Before anybody panics πŸ˜‚ β€” I'm not talking about a perfect workout routine or training for a marathon.

I'm talking about moving your body in ways that support your life.

Walking. Strength training. Yoga. Cycling. Dancing in your kitchen.

Movement matters because we were designed to move. It impacts our energy, our mood, our mental health, our stress levels, our confidence, and our nervous systems.

I know a lot of us have complicated relationships with movement because it's been so heavily tied to shrinking ourselves. I get that.

But movement can also become celebration. Stress relief. Strength. Mental clarity. Care.

Sometimes the walk isn't about calories. Sometimes it's about saving your mental health that day.

2. DRINKING ENOUGH WATER

This one is so basic and somehow still life-changing.

Because so many of us are under-hydrated, over-caffeinated, running on stress hormones, and wondering why we feel exhausted all the time.

Water impacts your energy, your focus, your mood, your sleep, your hormones β€” all of it.

Hydration is one of the clearest examples of how tiny choices, repeated consistently, really do matter.

Simple. But powerful.

3. FUELING OUR BODIES WELL

I want to be really intentional with this one because nourishment is so much bigger than dieting.

This is about fueling yourself like someone you love.

Eating enough. Eating consistently. Adding protein. Adding color. Supporting your energy instead of living on convenience and cortisol.

When your body is underfed or unsupported, you feel it. Your brain needs fuel. Your hormones need fuel. Your nervous system needs fuel.

And if you're like me, you've spent years either punishing yourself with food, controlling food, or disconnecting from what your body is actually telling you.

Nourishment is about rebuilding trust again.

4. GETTING QUALITY REST + SLEEP

Somewhere along the way, exhaustion became a personality trait and being "busy" became a status symbol.

Hear me loud and clear: rest is not laziness. Rest is strategy.

Sleep impacts your mental health, your stress, your hormones, your energy, your emotional regulation, your focus β€” literally everything.

We're trying to function while chronically under-rested and over-stimulated, and it's just not working.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is go to bed earlier.

5. PRACTICING MENTAL HYGIENE

I think this might be one of the most important conversations of our generation.

Because our brains were never designed to consume this much information all day long.

News. Opinions. Content. Comparison. Notifications. Noise.

Mental hygiene is paying attention to what you allow into your mind and nervous system every single day.

Who are you listening to? What are you consuming? How does it make you feel afterward?

Because your thoughts shape your energy too.

And sometimes protecting your peace looks like logging off. Getting outside. Praying. Reading. Being quiet. Letting your brain breathe for a second.

6. GETTING OUTSIDE

This last one feels so simple β€” and I genuinely think it's one of the most underrated wellness habits we have.

Sunshine. Fresh air. Nature. Slowing down long enough to notice the world around you.

Whether it's a morning walk, barefoot in the grass, sitting on the porch with your coffee, or taking your lunch outside instead of scrolling in your car πŸ˜‚ β€” there is something incredibly regulating about being outside.

It grounds your nervous system. Clears your mind. Boosts your mood. Brings you back to the present moment.

Some days a walk outside changes my energy more than almost anything else. 🌿

Alright friends β€” I know none of these habits are revolutionary.

That's actually the point. πŸ˜‚

The things that support us most are usually simple. The challenge is consistency. Awareness. Remembering that we matter too.

Because wellness doesn't have to be extreme to be life-changing.

Water. Movement. Rest. Fresh air. Nourishment. Mental hygiene.

Simple β€” but not always easy in a world constantly pulling us toward distraction, hustle, and disconnection.

And when we start consistently supporting ourselves in these small ways, it creates ripple effects everywhere.

In how we lead. How we love. How we respond to stress. How we show up in our relationships. How we move through hard seasons.

Because wellness is never just about wellness.

It's about the quality of your actual life.

So this week, I want you to start paying attention to your BEST SELF CHOICES.

Next week, we're continuing this conversation with something I think a lot of you need to hear:

When Wellness Becomes Another Chore.

Because while these habits CAN deeply support us β€” wellness can also quietly become rigid, performative, all-or-nothing, and one more thing we feel like we're failing at.

So join me back here next week as we talk about how to build a healthier, more sustainable relationship with wellness β€” one that actually supports your life instead of controlling it.

If today's episode resonated with you, I'd love if you shared it with a friend or left a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts. It truly helps more women find these conversations and grow this community we're building together.
